Isaiah 13:3-5 “I have commanded my consecrated ones, yea, I have called my mighty men for mine anger, even my proudly exulting ones. The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as of a great people! the noise of a tumult of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Jehovah of hosts is mustering the host for the battle. They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.”
Comment: Those involved in the fall of Babylon include the kingdoms of the nations gathered by God. The spirit world, which is unseen by humans, will also be involved. God also uses His weapons such as wind, sandstorms, and rain.
Isaiah 13:17-18 “Behold I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver, and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. And their bows shall dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.”
Comment: Today the Kurdish people live where the Medes were. They are known for their bloody revenge. They will not be bought off.
Isaiah 21:2 “A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous man dealeth treacherously, and the destroyer destroyeth. Go up, O Elam; besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.”
Comment: Not only are the Medes or Kurds involved, but also Elam, a people group currently represented in western Iran.
Isaiah 48:14 “Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear; who among them hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah loveth shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.”
Comment: “He whom Jehovah loveth” refers to Israel. Therefore, Israel will also be involved.
Jeremiah 50:9-10 “For, lo, I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country; and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of an expert mighty man; none shall return in vain. And Chaldea shall be a prey: all that prey upon her shall be satisfied, saith Jehovah.”
Comment: Great nations (plural) that are north of Babylon will be involved. Their battle will be a total success and none will come back defeated. Chaldea originally referred to a small territory in southern Babylonia at the head of the Persian Gulf. At the present time it is represented by modern day Kuwait.
Jeremiah 50:25-27 “Jehovah hath opened his armory, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation; for the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, hath a work to do in the land of the Chaldeans. Come against her from the utmost border; open her storehouses; . . . let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.”
Comment: In the Gulf War, the countries represented came from all over the earth. Soldiers from each continent came to help.
Jeremiah 50:41 “Behold, a people cometh from the north; and a great nation and many kings shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.”
Comment: If the fall of Babylon is now in progress, we know that, “A people cometh from the north” refers to the Kurds. “A great nation” refers to the United States. “Uttermost parts” refers to the coalition of nations formed during the Gulf War.
Jeremiah 51:1-2 “Thus saith Jehovah: behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in Leb-kamai, a destroying wind. And I will send unto Babylon strangers, that shall winnow her; and they shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.”
Comment: The “strangers” that will winnow Babylon refer to people not from Babylon (terrorists). During the days of her troubles they cause destruction.
Revelation 17:16-17 “And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her utterly with fire. For God did put in their hearts to do his mind, and to come to one mind, and to give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.”
Isaiah 47:3 “Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and will spare no man.”
Isaiah 47:14 “Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: it shall not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before.”
Comment: The fall of Babylon will reveal the ten horns of the beast. The ten horns have control over that part of the world. They allow the entire world to come together to bring about the destruction.
Summary: Those Involved in Destruction
The Scriptures tell us that this event will involve nations from around the globe. They mention that a people group; a great nation and many kings from around the world will send their soldiers. Also involved is the spirit world, even God himself. It is not just a localized event in that part of the world; it affects the whole world. Each group has a part in the total destruction of Babylon.
